St. Regis Academy Job Description The Math Interventionist will provide instructional support and collaborative coaching to St. Regis Academy teachers as they work to implement our Math U See curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments that support our Catholic, Liberal Arts curriculum. The Math Interventionist will model teaching strategies and differentiated instruction while working with scholars in small groups and one-on-one. The Math interventionist will work with teachers, inside and outside of the classroom, to support best instructional practices using individual scholar performance data and school-wide trends in instruction, will collaborate with teachers and will make recommendations about potential next steps to address identified areas of need. As an advisor and collaborator to teachers, the Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting scholars and their mastery of foundational Math skills and equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to promote Math mastery and growth in every scholar. The Math Interventionist's ultimate job is to model best practices and work with classroom teachers to create effective learning experiences for scholars.
The ideal candidate would have experience teaching elementary school and possess knowledge of Classical teaching. A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
Duties/Responsibilities
Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with all members of the Academy community. Work with small groups and individual scholars to support growth in mastery of Math concepts. Developing and demonstrating a thorough knowledge of Math curriculum and Catholic, Liberal Arts Math curriculum. Meet with teachers one on one or in vertical teams at least once per quarter, or more frequently as schedule allows, to discuss and implement instructional strategies based on assessment data to enhance academic rigor. Demonstrate (model/team-teach) instructional practices that result in increased scholar performance and improved classroom environment. Understand and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church at all times. Lead scholars to an understanding and an appreciation of all that is Good, Beautiful, and True. Relate to scholars by loving them with the love of Christ, encouraging them to begin and/or develop their own relationship with God through sacraments and scripture, and challenging them to love others. Be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness and virtue. Manage the class by setting clear expectations of behavior, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline based on Catholic principles. Teach scholars in a challenging, enthusiastic and age-appropriate manner using the Classical model. Ensure that within the year, the scope and sequence of concepts and skills assigned to the grade are taught to the scholars. Apply Catholic moral principles and comply with the school policy in administration of behavioral discipline in the classroom. Communicate clearly, frequently, and regularly to parents about discipline issues regarding their children. Evaluate each scholar's progress on a regular basis and report that progress to the scholar, parents, and principal. Assist the principal with the curriculum selection and development to fulfill the distinctive character of a Classical school. Respond expediently to parent, scholar, or administrator concerns and ideas. Assure that all classroom equipment and materials are safe and well-maintained. Serve as an advocate for St. Regis Academy, as well as Classical education, in the Kansas City area. Stay current on the best practices in education and teaching, particularly with regard to Classical education, in order to provide academic excellence. Actively involve parents in the life of the school, and coordinate classroom volunteers. Supervise children during assigned duties at lunch, recess, and/or before and after school. Qualifications Candidates for faculty positions at St. Regis Academy must:
Exemplify and articulate a life of faith in Christ. Demonstrate a willingness to be trained in Classical educational methods. Be in agreement with the philosophy of St. Regis Academy as articulated in the Vision Statement. Be willing to cooperate with and support the policies of the school administration (pastor and principal) Be passionate about educating children in a Catholic environment, and about the grade/subject to be taught. Experience is preferred but not required. Be willing to work closely with parents in the education of their children. Be committed to academic excellence.
