Job Summary:
Manage the life cycle of the residents in the MDC Programs to include but not limited to ministry, developing their short and long-term objectives, holding them accountable, handling and resolving grievances, discipline, and (if appropriate) termination.
Implement all related MDC Programs policies and procedures with other Case Manager's ensuring completion of all related documents and ensuring adherence to class schedules plus other program activities.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage the life cycle of the residents in the MDC Programs to include but not limited to ministry, developing their short and long-term objectives, holding them accountable, handling and resolving grievances, discipline, and (if appropriate) termination.
Assist other program staff in maintaining discipline and order within the program, including security in the facility.
Must be alert to security issues related to storage, computer equipment as well as other property, promptly documenting and notifying supervisor of any program policy violations.
Provide direct care to each client assigned to caseload.
Particularly the daily provision of personal hygiene products, medications, work assignments, progress reports, locker checks, drug test, referrals for GED classes and any other related personal issues that may arise.
Maintain working, up-to-date case files on each client in case load and communicate to Manager of Program Services all pertinent information concerning each program member on assigned case load.
Assist residents in the program with effective conflict resolution, teaching and modeling conflict resolution skills.
Teach program-related classes from a Biblical perspective using illustrations from scripture to relate life applications of the material as assigned by Manager Program Services.
Monitor and record all client class work to ensure residents have met goals and expected outcomes of courses in preparation for program commencement.
Other Job Responsibilities: Participate in Ministry and prayer activities, as appropriate.
Oversee mealtimes and complete roll call.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Skills & Experience: Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in social services, psychology, theology, biblical counseling, Christian ministry or related field with 1 year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with drug rehabilitation, drug counseling and/or biblical counseling is preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance.
Must be detail oriented, well-organized and able to update and maintain accurate client case files in a timely manner.
Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to speak in public and counsel individuals one-on-one.
Proven problem-solving ability and able to work in a team.
Must be able to learn and retain information quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Must have good judgement in dealing with confidential Star of Hope matters and client information.
Be able to work respectfully, professionally and in a Christ-like manner with everyone, able to maintain required client/staff boundaries and possess a willingness to serve the Lord in a ministry that deals with homeless men, women and children.
Equipment Used: General Office Supplies (Calculator, Telephone, Stapler, etc.
), Computer Equipment (Monitor, Keyboard, etc.
), Copier/Fax/Printer, Cleaning Supplies, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Drives a SOH 15-passenger van.
Work Environment: Work schedule may vary and be subject to change to meet the business needs of the mission, including early, evening, or weekend shifts with rotating holiday schedules.
Infrequent travel between facilities and infrequent or occasional travel within the city.
Will occasionally be required to meet in program facilities.
Professional dress.
Jeans with no holes/fraying may only be worn on Fridays and only as long as a Star of Hope shirt (T-shirt, polo-style or sweatshirt) is worn.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required as needed for completion of tasks.
Exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse and other emergency situations relative to the homeless population is normal.
Relations with Others: Constant contact with clients.
Constant face to face discussions with individuals.
Frequent contact with immediate peers, immediate manager and volunteers.
Frequent use of telephone conversation, electronic mail, written letters and memos.
Occasional contact with peers and managers in other departments and other agencies.
Occasional public speaking.
Physical Requirements: Light work with lifting of up to 20 pounds.
Constant sitting, use of fingers, handling, talking, hearing, close vision at 20 inches or less, and repetitive motion.
Frequent, reaching, tasting/smelling, distance vision, field of vision, and depth perception.
Occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, handling, feeling, pushing, pulling, and color vision.
Other: Able to support through word and action the Star of Hope Christ-centered Mission statement, Faith Statement, and the mission's core values of integrity, excellence and commitment to life change.
