Meals Coordinator SPANISH Job Description: The Meals Coordinator will work with our Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef and other School Nutrition Team members. The Meals Coordinator service professional t is dedicated to re-envisioning the way food is served to children in schools. The Meals Coordinator must be able to follow instructions from our Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef regarding the National School Lunch Program dietary guidelines, bring creativity, passion, a collaborative attitude, and tenacity to build a better model for school food. Supervised by: The Meals Coordinator will be supervised by the Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef Responsibilities:
Food Service Work with Kitchen Manager/Lead Chef to safely execute nutritional school meals and snacks Collaborate with Nutrition and Wellness Manager to maintain monthly classroom bag lists and update allergy lists, putting into operation accommodations for children with special dietary needs Pilot new menu items in collaboration with students and staff Ability to prep and cook in large quantities (apx. 500 individuals) Collaborate with school nutrition team members and assist in training staff on meal preparation techniques and equipment usage Oversee and participate in meal pack out and delivery to classrooms Develop and implement diverse and nutritious snack menu for daytime and aftercare snack Keep facilities clean, safe, and follow food safety protocols Prepare the meals on time and serve them in a timely manner Maintain a high level of quality Food Nutrition Ambassador Engage with Mundo Verde community and create food engagement opportunities Positively represent the Mundo Verde Meals Program in the community Engage and assist in some evening and weekend events Qualifications of an Ideal Candidate
Required Culinary degree or at least 2 years working in a kitchen Advanced or Native proficiency of English Demonstrated interest in working with children ages 3-11 Desire and commitment to learn National School Lunch Program guidelines Collaborative mentality and positive attitude Must be able to repetitively lift 30 pounds and make decisions in accordance with established procedures Food Safety Manager License (within the first 6 months) Beneficial Proven ability to work as a member of a team Flexibility, professionalism, creativity and a willingness to learn Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development Willingness to support kitchen staff and students in a range of capacities Experience with sustainable practices Prefered Intermediate, advanced or native proficiency of Spanish Habits of an Ideal Candidate: Mundo Verde community members strive to embody and practice the characteristics of a Community Steward by practicing six community building virtues and values everyday: 1) Empathy, 2) Speak your truth, 3) Perseverance, 4) Inquiry, 5) Collaboration, and 6) Appreciation. Other Job Details Schedule: 8 hours a day and other occasional evening events Location: Assigned campus Position Type: This is a 12-month salaried position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act Employment subject to TB test, fingerprinting and background check What we offer
