Mechanic Position: Full-time
Location: Lakehurst, NJ
Travel: 10%
Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced mechanic with their own shop to join our dynamic team. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. Utilizing both manual and computerized diagnostic methods, you will identify potential issues, explain mechanical problems and solutions to clients, and execute repairs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: Utilize manual and computerized diagnostic methods to identify potential problems in vehicles, including engine, transmission, electrical, and other systems. Conduct thorough inspections to pinpoint issues accurately and recommend appropriate repair solutions. Perform repairs and maintenance tasks according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. Replace worn, old, or defective parts with precision and attention to detail to ensure the vehicle's reliability and safety. Modify vehicles to meet specific performance requirements and client preferences. Clearly explain mechanical problems and proposed solutions to clients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Provide accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines, ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction throughout the service process. Test parts and systems to ensure they function correctly and meet safety standards before finalizing repairs. Conduct post-repair inspections to verify the effectiveness of the repair work and address any remaining issues promptly. Collaborate effectively with other team members to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and support the overall success of the service center. Assist colleagues with complex repair tasks and provide guidance and mentorship as needed. Maintain detailed records of repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings, to ensure accurate billing and effective communication with clients. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks. Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations. Qualifications and Skills: Previous Automotive Service Tech Experience (1 year minimum). ASE Certification is a PLUS. Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a similar environment or related industry. Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulics. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues accurately. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors effectively. Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy equipment and perform manual tasks. Physical Demands: This role involves frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling while inspecting and repairing vehicles and equipment. Mechanics must possess the strength and dexterity to lift heavy parts and tools, often weighing up to 50 pounds, and carry out manual tasks. Additionally, the job requires standing for extended periods during maintenance and repair work. The position may also involve occasional work in confined spaces and at elevated heights. As such, candidates must have adequate physical stamina, coordination, and flexibility to handle the demands of the job and ensure the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and machinery.
