The Siemens R&D Low Voltage team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer – Motor Controls to join our team in Electrification and Automation division. Headquartered in Wendell, NC, the EA R&D team executes diverse projects for low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment. The Design Engineer role comes with ample opportunities for growth, reflective of Siemens mission to empower people with a growth mindset. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful designs in new projects, from part creation to full product scope. You will work in a matrix-style organization requiring excellent coordination skills.
Role Description: Responsible for developing the design of the product. Design parts and assemblies (Structure, Bus assemblies, panels, doors, supports, insulation, hardware) following standards and complying to project scope and prototype testing. Understand and develop designs to fulfill Requirement Tracking Matrix, Development Specification, Design to Manufacturing, Standards, and Prototype scope, taking into account the impact of each part and assembly. Coordinate product development with project team, management, and other departments such as production, quality, and purchasing. Review quality of own designs and other team members. Release parts and assemblies on time with proper documentation and follow set in SAP, ensuring complete and accurate Bills of materials such as quantities and raw material, and validate parts have good quality for production. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited university or college 5+ years of experience in continuous engineering or product development environment Experience working with electrical distribution equipment. Knowledge of 3D engineering tools (Solid Edge, Solidworks, Unigraphics/NX). NX is preferred. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
