The Design and Construction Department seeks (1) Mechanical Engineer II to join an already excellent team and take this department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise in mechanical matters, plumbing, and fire protection to the University, such as HVAC, ductwork, piping, controls, energy management systems, fire protection, etc.
They will also review engineering proposals, design drawings, written specifications, and shop drawings submitted by consultants and contractors.
In addition to supporting the departments, the Mechanical Engineer II also:
* Reviews and oversees mechanical designs and shop drawings prepared by contract consultants and contractors for code compliance.
* Participates in the selection and hiring of consultants and in preparing construction documents.
Provides engineering consultation to Facilities and other departments concerning HVAC, energy management, and other mechanical issues.
* Oversees the construction of assigned mechanical and construction projects.
Assists contractors, Facilities Maintenance and Operations, Design and Construction Services (D&CS) Project Managers, Consultants, and city and state agencies in construction-related matters.
* Prepares and manages architectural, engineering, and construction administration contract agreements between the University, design professionals, and contractors.
* Prepares cost estimates for design and construction-related capital project budgets.
* Manages project budgets and schedules.
* Provides input into determining what projects are to be funded each year.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Background Check
Successful candidates must pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation and other background searches applicable to the job, such as credit check and Motor Vehicle Record.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical Engineering Technology and four years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
* Experience in HVAC/ Plumbing system design
* Familiarity with OSHA building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection codes
* Familiarity with construction industry standards of practice and various codes enforced for construction and good engineering practice.
