Job Description

The Precision Welding Solutions Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer. This position primarily supports current production products and will also support new product development activities, as required.

We are looking for a positive, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both in a team and individually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Direct involvement in all design activities including CAD design, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, reliability, 3rd party compliance testing, documentation, product changes, and manufacturing support
Work with other engineers, technicians, service, and manufacturing personnel to create and implement reliable, cost-effective, streamlined, and simplified, product solutions
Design and document components and assemblies using SolidWorks
Direct involvement with the materials team throughout the entire product life cycle to ensure a secure material source, quality integrity, and meeting cost metrics

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1-5 years of relevant industry experience preferred
Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively complete tasks individually as well as in a cross-function team environment
Product design experience: component level and system level design knowledge
Computer design proficiency: knowledge in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products
Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles: statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, fluid and thermo dynamics, machine design, test and measurement, and energy conversion systems
Experience in additive manufacturing for prototyping and validation
Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS A PLUS:

Wide breadth of manufacturing process knowledge: injection molding, thermoforming and blow molding, sheet metal fabrication, milling and turning, casting, extruding, and joining
Familiarity with CSA, IEC, and UL or experience with other Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories
Familiarity with quality control approaches, creation of reliability test plans, and reliable component design
Experience in component inspection using various metrology equipment
A track record of implementing creative designs
Experience in design for manufacture and assembly: simplification of product structure/sourcing, reduction of manufacturing and assembly cost, and elimination of inefficiency and waste
Customer interaction and customer backed innovation
