We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager to join our Architectural Engineering team at our Wichita location (in office). This individual will assist with the design of HVAC, hydronic, hydraulic, compressed air, bagging vacuum, chip vacuum, and various types of plumbing systems in building environments for various clients of MKEC.
Responsibilities: Design mechanical systems for bidding and construction from project start to finish. Analyze, perform, and communicate feasibility, project estimates, energy usage calculations, and comparative analysis of equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated responses from all disciplines. Perform heat loss/gain and pressure loss calculations. Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, etc.) to determine conformance with contract documents. Research, evaluate, design, and specify mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements. Attend meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed. Confer with other engineers and personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Requirements: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.3 – 7+ years of relevant experience.PE license is preferred.Working knowledge of IBC, IMC, IPC, and NFPA codes.Experience in HVAC system controls and sequence of operation.Basic knowledge of electrical systems, structures, foundations, and site/civil is preferred.Basic knowledge of the maintenance aspect of the equipment specified is preferred.Previous project management experience is preferred.Ability to prepare proposals and/or cost estimates for potential projects, perform scheduling and billing tasks, and write technical reports.Ability to perform site inspection for both pre and final design phases.Proficient in AutoCAD.Proficient with Microsoft Office.Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks. Excellent presentation, written communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.Compliance with MKEC and client drug/alcohol and safety programs.
