Job Description:Summary:Barr is seeking a mechanical technician/designer to work on mechanical engineering projects involving data collection, planning, problem solving, design, and construction assistance. The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams to provide computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD, CADWorx, and other drafting software on a Windows platform.Responsibilities will include working closely with engineers to create, update, and revise drawings of mechanical and miscellaneous systems and may involve visiting project sites to gather information for drawings. Projects may involve drafting designs for pumping and piping systems, industrial equipment, conveyor systems, building systems, and various details. Providing occasional assistance for structural, electrical, or civil design may also be required.Minimum Qualifications:Two-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above5 years of experience directly related to job responsibilities described aboveProficiency in current versions of AutoCADStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessA flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needsSuperior task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and following-upL egal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futur eValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:5+ years of related work experience at a consulting engineering firm or industrial workplaceStrong understanding of mechanical systems and their applications in an industrial environmentProficiency in additional drafting packages, such as CADWorx, Revit Structural, Solidworks, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Geopak as well as spreadsheet, GIS, or word processing softwareFamiliarity with work in an industrial environment and basic knowledge of industrial disciplines and industrial constructionA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
