The Medical Hospitalist provides direct medical and inpatient care services in a high volume community hospital to adult non-surgical patients in a comparable manner, regardless of such patients' insurance status, and as a primary care provider within specified areas of licensure to accommodate daily workload program requirements. This role conducts weekly on-call duties to cover hospitalist service patients, refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components, and prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications and treatment regimens to assessed medical conditions.
Job Responsibilities Manages the treatment of patients during their hospital stay, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of care and treatment.Works closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, to ensure that patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently.Develops and implements care plans for patients based on their medical needs and condition.Conducts daily rounds to assess patient progress and updates care plans as necessary.Orders and interprets tests and imaging studies to diagnose and monitor patients' conditions.Identifies and manages potential complications, adjusting patients' treatment plans as necessary.Communicates with patients and their families about their medical condition, treatment plan, and expected outcome.May perform additional duties as assigned. Licensure - Physician Upon Start; Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia
Experience - Physician Residency; Successful completion of physician residency program
Education - Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution
