Our professional services client is looking to bring on a remote, part time, contract W2, Media Monitoring Analyst:
Media Monitoring Analyst This role will support a very important client relationship for our client – USPS
This is a part-time job with a unique schedule: 20-24 hour per week with majority of hours working a couple of hours in the evenings (Sunday night through Thursday evening) to pull USPS news related articles and compiling a report and a couple of hours in the early mornings Monday through Friday (6am-ish – 8am-ish) working with the USPS team to finalize the report.
Would be good for candidates to have some type of journalism background to understand what type of sources and news items to pull (not opinion pieces – straight news stories), web search skills, Microsoft Word skills to pull new articles and links into a Word table and edit as needed. Person will also have access to a database that is a source of vetted news articles. USPS will train this person on how to use the database (Cision database). Person should be detail oriented and dependable. These reports are sent to executive level staff at USPS.
Responsibilities include: – Accessing a one-stop platform with comprehensive print monitoring tools,
searchable databases and complete web monitoring to gather and track what is
being reported on the Postal Service by the leading print and Internet outlets
(online media) and broadcast nationwide daily.
– Compiling media monitoring reports as early as 4 a.m. (EST) each business day, which
can begin being compiled the evening before, on news from the Postal Service
and its competitors.
– Creating special reports based on subject matter or high volume of coverage.
– Scheduling and receiving daily email alerts when new stories have posted and
monitoring articles in the works.
– Tracking entries in real-time using an archive of tens of thousands of print
publications and media hits.
– Explaining the monitoring process to management and staff.
– Contributing as an effective team member.
– Handling changing priorities and diplomatically reacting to advice and
constructive criticism.
– Consulting with production staff and customers to improve information design,
structure and organization of media report.
Helping customers to analyze and design information for specific purposes or
audiences.
– Researching, fact checking, writing, editing and helping customers clear technical
materials.
– Editing information for clarity, conciseness and (if necessary) specific tasks.
– Monitoring the clearance and approval process.
– Monitoring production stages.
– Notifying customers about the status of the project via email throughout the
stages of the publishing process.
– Performing document management and tracking tasks for each document.
– Editing documents to be consistent with concepts and use of "Plain Writing."
– Finding process solutions to problems by gathering data and analyzing issues.
– Managing multiple documents simultaneously.
– Understanding the capabilities of media monitoring software and content
management.
– Using knowledge of Microsoft track changes to help customer submit changes to
Reports.
Education and Experience This position requires at a minimum: – 5 years of experience in writing.
– An associate degree, but preferably a bachelor's or advanced degree in English, journalism, communications or other related liberal arts discipline.
– Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style guide is preferred.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $28.45 to $32 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
