Job Description: Dakota County Technical College seeks a temporary, part-time Medical Administrative Assistant/Secretary Instructor (Medical Coding Specialist) dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The college is committed to reflecting a diversity of perspective and backgrounds among its administrators, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities: Teach various Medical Coding courses including, but not limited to, Procedure Coding and Advanced Coding beginning with the Fall 2024 semester. Required Qualifications: Education Requirement Associate's degree Occupational Experience Requirement Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a medical administrative assistant/secretary. Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Professional Coder ( CPC ) American Association of Professional Coders Approved Instructor ( CPC -1) Active member of AAPC Three or more years of experience in E&M (Evaluation and Management) Coding and Surgical Coding Higher education teaching experience with diverse student populations Experience with learning communities or team teaching Experience in curriculum development Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery, including web enhanced and online instruction Experience developing and using student centered, active and experiential learning strategies Experience integrating cross cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction Experience assessing student academic achievement of campus wide and classroom learning outcomes Experience with accelerated adult learning About: Dakota County Technical College endeavors to serve students within nearby communities, as well as those coming from countries around the world. Benefits Info: Salary: Dependent on credit load, salary is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the ******** MSCF Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Depending on credit load, the State of Minnesota offers: Work assignment of 171 days (August – May) Tuition Waiver (24 credits each year at any Minnesota State College or University) Medical and dental insurance ( Employer paid life insurance Pre-tax flexible spending accounts Tax-deferred compensation Personal and sick leave Desired Start Date: 08/26/2024
