Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Medical Assistant(MA) 2-Trainer performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks at all LLUHC sites, within scope of education and training, and under the supervision of physician, supervisor, and/or licensed staff person.
The MA 2-Trainer is an advanced/super user in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and supports new and ongoing training and education.
The MA 2-Trainer has training and experience with front desk and clinical back-office operations such as check-in/ check-out and referrals for multi departments.
Serves as a preceptor/mentor for new MA hires and students as well as other clinical staff during the orientation/training period and as needed.
The MA 2-Trainer provides coverage to the various Loma Linda University Health Care (LLUHC) Departments as requested/required when not precepting/training.
Performs other duties as needed.Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduate of a Credentialed or Nationally Recognized Medical Assistant (MA) program required for Front Office and Clinical Back Office.
Minimum two years of Medical Assistant clinical experience preferred.
Minimum two years Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user required.
Use of EMR specifically EPIC platform with Super User training for one year required.
Preceptor, mentoring, and leadership training required within 90 days of hire and annually via LLUH Staff Development and other educational venues as appropriate.Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of outpatient clinic front office and back office practices and policies, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user Required.
Able to keyboard up to 40 wpm.
Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.
Operate/troubleshoot basic office/patient care equipment required for the position.
Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
Provides leadership abilities via example, communication, and professionalism.
Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
Distinguish colors and smell as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone or other electronic mode.
Identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch necessary for patient care.Licensures and Certifications: Clinical Medical Assistant (MA) certificate required.
Basic Life Support (BLS)- Provider Course certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Valid/current unrestricted California Driver's License required.
