Under the supervision of an RN, LVN, physician assistant or physician, ensure quality patient care in clinic setting. Registers patients and inputs data in computer system, vital signs and health screening. Able to schedule, with good phone and customer service skills. Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.Provides appropriate, direct patient care in assigned area(s).Takes patient's vital signs and provides personal care to patients.Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.Ensures accurate maintenance of patient's medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.Provides health care instruction to patient and family members.Documents transactions, phone conversations, observations, and orders in medical record according to policy and procedure of clinic.Responsible for following clinic policies and procedures for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.Responsible for accurate administration of medications as appropriate and collection/handling of lab specimens.Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health. Job Requirements Minimum Education: Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certificate program with relevant front and back office experiencePreferred Education: Not ApplicableMinimum Experience: 0-6 months related experiencePreferred Experience: Bilingual - SpanishRequired Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - HeartsaverPreferred Certification: Certified CA State Medical AssistantRequired License: Not ApplicablePreferred License: Not Applicable
