**Schedule:** Full Time, 40 hours/week**Shift** : Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm**Location:** **AdventHealth Bolingbrook Bariatric Outpatient Office****The role you'll contribute:**Reporting to the Practice Manager and under the supervision of the Providers, the Medical Assistant/Patient Registration Coordinator is accountable for the patient's first impression of the organization in addition for their care as they perform a wide variety of patient care activities including patient registration and clinical duties.
**The value you'll bring to the team:**· Drives customer service initiatives by creating and owning the patient experience· Answers telephone, responds to patient questions/concerns to ensure prompt accurate resolution is achieved and is able to handle various job tasks simultaneously· Communicates with the patient or their guarantor to obtain demographic, employment, insurance and current medical condition information in order to perform accurate registration· Prepares, processes, and files the medical record for each patient as required by patient type for documentation by physician and medical personnel· Obtains client information for worker's comp and corporate accounts, and verifies authorization and service(s) requested· Verifies insurance eligibility and determines accurate up-front collection amount· Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.· Utilizing age-specific guidelines, assesses patient during clinical check-in, documents pertinent medical information and vital signs.
Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect.· Performs and administers treatments, medications and any follow-up assessments ordered by the provider, verifying as needed.
Responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations· Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing to include, but not limited to, EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus and pulse oximetry.
Completes forensic testing collections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Florida Drug Free Workplace Guidelines.
This may include urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol testing, oral fluids and hair testing.· Appropriately complete check-out duties and relays instructions/care to the patient or familyQualifications**The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:****KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:**· Comprehensive knowledge of general medical assistant practices· Ability to operate office technology and strong proficiency with computer applications· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds· Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**· High school diploma or equivalent· 1 year of related work experience **OR** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with completion of externship **OR** 6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility**_EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:_**+ Previous MA experience+ Experience working with EPIC highly preferred**LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:**1) **CPR Certification – BLS American Heart Association issued**2) **Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following** :· American Association of Medical Assistants ("AAMA"), American Medical Certification Association ("AMCA"), American Medical Technologists ("AMT"), National Association for Health Professionals ("NAHP"), National Center for Competency Testing ("NCCT"), National Health Career Association ("NHA"), American Allied Health ("AAH"), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from National Performance Specialists (NPS) or National Certification Medical Association ("NCMA")· Applicable State Paramedic License3) Continued maintenance of BAT certification after hire4) Continued maintenance of Drug Screen Certification after hireThis facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
