At PPAU, care is much more than the health, education, and advocacy services we provide; it's the way we approach our world with compassion and a constant desire to improve. We care with kindness, respect, and are passionate about helping adults and teens of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, and cultural backgrounds lead healthy lives.  Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Controller, the Billing/Accounting Associate will assist in the overall efficient functioning of the billing department, including processing third party insurance billing as well as assisting with Accounts Receivable management.  This position is full-time We are committed to building an inclusive workplace that values diversity and inclusion and reflects the diversity of our communities and patients. \n Job Duties:Responsible for preparation of PPAU's third party billings, including Medicaid, private insurance, and other payers.Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of billing information and posting payments received. Monitor unpaid claims and follow-up or re-bill as needed to ensure timely payment.Possess a strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.Records EOB payment balances to deposits daily and balances payments with account balances.Works and sends out Responsible Collections statements bi-weekly. As accounts age, takes appropriate action, such as: sending statements, adjusting balances from system, changing balance owed to bad debt, processing patient refunds as needed, etc.Promptly responds to clients billing inquiries and resolves client questions and concerns.Negotiates payment schedules and other options with clients to reduce overdue accounts.Asks questions and works with clinical staff to be part of a more effective team.Incorporates client satisfaction into all aspects of billing activities.Participates with the CFO and finance team on analyzing Revenue Cycle data and recommends changes to improve workflow efficiencies. What we're looking for:Maintain open lines of communication.Address problems positively and listens non-defensively.Represent PPAU in a professional and positive manner when dealing with clients, the public, volunteers, interns/externs, donors, and other staff, demonstrating a commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.Participate with team members in identifying and improving systems, activities, behaviors, resolving issues, etc. which result in improving quality services.  Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA and to PPAU policy.Attend and participate in all required meetings and training sessions.Participate in annual team review process.Understand their responsibility and participates in assuring productivity levels are maintained.Demonstrate respect for diversity in daily activities.Meet PPAU standards for performance measures and attendance/punctuality.Must have the highest integrity, be diplomatic, analytical, and possess sound judgment.Perform other duties as required or requested. Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent.1+ years accounting experience and/or education. Medical billing experience required. Experience with Electronic Health Record systems and Clearinghouse billing preferred.
