Are you passionate about improving care for substance use disorders? Would you like to work at a clinic integrated into a local health department, with the opportunity to care for individual patients and take a public health approach to substance use in our community? If this sounds like you, we invite you to apply as our new Medical Director for our Substance Use Treatment Services program. This is a Regular, Part-Time (0.50 FTE (20 hours weekly) - FTE may be negotiable) position. Reporting to the Health Officer, this position serves as medical director for opioid use disorder treatment at the Health Department's clinic. Work includes supervision of nurse practitioners who provide direct clinical services, process improvement and quality improvement for the clinic, and the administrative responsibilities required for the provision of methadone. Additionally, the Health Department will soon be launching a street medicine program. If you are interested in street medicine work and looking for increased FTE, there will likely be opportunities to provide direct care as part of the street medicine program as well. **1st application review December 8, 2024** Some of what you'll do: Leads the day-to-day activities of direct reports: prioritizes work, plans, manages, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff and consulting contracts, assigns work activities, and coordinates schedules, projects, and programs.Supervises and manages staff, including hiring, training, timecard/time off approvals, performance management, investigations, and resolution of disciplinary matters.Effectively develops their direct reports.Ensures employees comply with Department policies and procedures, including policies around hours worked, ethics, time off, and harassment, among others.Provide in-person and telephone clinical consultation for nurse practitioners and other clinic staff.Provide training on clinical topics to clinic staff.Monitor patient charts for quality of medical services provided, and work with other administrators to develop or revise medical and other treatment intervention policies and procedures.Oversee all medical care provided within the clinic. Work closely with clinic staff to ensure the delivery of coordinated services to patients.Develop and review clinic policies, procedures, and operational approaches to ensure the provision of high-quality care, improve efficiency, and improve staff experience.Ensure the safety, security and accountability of methadone and other scheduled medications in the clinic.Interact with the local medical provider community on issues of continuity of care and education about substance use treatment.Provide oversight to ensure the clinic adheres to state and federal laws and policies for the provision of methadone.
