Position Summary:
The Medical Director provides leadership and support for the Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) Master of Science program in Physician Associate Studies and serves to support and advocate for the goals and mission of the Program and University. The Medical Director will assist in program development, evaluation, and improvement, as well as provide support for ensuring competencies in alignment with accreditation standards are met. The Medical Director will also play an integral role in shepherding relationships with clinical sites, physicians, students, and faculty.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Program Director in ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of the curriculum for physician associate education and practice for an innovative hybrid program.
• Participate in development of the program mission, goals, policies, and competencies.
• Support the ongoing evaluation of the program competencies to meet PA current practice standards and ARC-PA requirements.
• Collaborate to recruit clinical preceptors.
• Participate in the recruitment of physician, physician associate, and other healthcare providers to provide specialty lecturers, clinical skills training, and supervised clinical practice experiences as needed.
• Participate in scholarship and service activities as required to maintain licensure and board certification.

• Participate in accreditation-related activities, including evaluation of curriculum and administrative aspects of the program, as required.
• Participate in student recruitment, admission, and retention.
• Participate in interprofessional education.

Required Qualifications and Experience
• Current and valid licensed Physician (MD or DO)
• Medical or Surgical Specialty - Board Certification (within the US)
• Graduate of a U.S.-accredited medical school

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• A minimum of three years of clinical experience
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills; demonstrated reliability and effectiveness during prior work experiences, as may be verified through contact with professional references
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team of highly motivated and experienced healthcare professionals, as may be verified through contact with professional references.
• Honesty, integrity, and commitment to high professional standards, as may be verified through contact with professional references
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications
• Academic teaching experience within a PA program
• Past clinical instruction experience within a PA program
• ARC-PA accreditation knowledge and experience
• Connections with the local, regional, and national clinical practice communities

Special Requirements
• Some on-campus presence is required, especially during intensive on-campus components of the program and to meet leadership expectations.
