Employment Type: Contract (Base year plus four option years)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 0700 and 1830. Federal holidays excluded; overtime not authorized.

Position Overview: The White Earth Service Unit (WESU) is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to deliver comprehensive laboratory services at the White Earth Health Center, Naytahwaush, and Pine Point Satellite Clinics. The MLT will play a crucial role in supporting the White Earth Service Unit's mission of providing high-quality, culturally sensitive healthcare to ensure positive health outcomes for all patients.
\nKey Responsibilities: Specimen Collection and Processing: Collect and prepare specimens for routine testing and referral, performing accurate and timely specimen handling. Laboratory Testing: Conduct routine and specialized tests in areas such as microbiology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology. Monitor and interpret results for quality and accuracy. Quality Control and Assurance:
Perform and monitor quality control procedures for equipment, reagents, and products, and troubleshoot issues as necessary. Instrument Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments, troubleshoot malfunctions, and arrange for external servicing as needed. Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all laboratory procedures, safety protocols, infection control practices, and blood-borne pathogen policies in accordance with regulatory standards. Proficiency Testing and Improvement Programs:
Participate in laboratory proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Documentation:
Maintain accurate laboratory records and files, including test results, quality control data, and supply orders. Patient Interaction: Deliver respectful and professional service to patients, accommodating age-specific needs for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Qualifications: Certification: Valid ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Licensure: State licensure, if required. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing specimen collection, accessioning, analysis, and reporting. Basic Life Support (BLS): Current BLS certification required. Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate analytical instruments and perform calibrations, independently perform recurring tests and analysis, and recognize and report abnormal results. Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in medical terminology, microbiology, chemistry, physiology, and quality assurance practices to ensure the reliability of test data. Additional Requirements:Communication Skills: Fluent in English, with the ability to effectively communicate, understand, and follow instructions. Professionalism: Demonstrates respectful, patient-centered interaction with patients and colleagues, maintaining a neat and organized work environment. Documentation and Compliance: Ability to provide all educational and training documentation, verify current competency, and respond to the Government's reasonable requests for replacement or supplementary personnel as needed. Supervision and Reporting: The MLT will operate under the day-to-day supervision of the contracting organization, with activities monitored by the WESU's laboratory supervisor and departmental staff.
