Mental Health Technician (MHT), $25 Per Hour, Float PoolYour Work Matters How will you make a difference?
The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on which unit works.
MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.We recently created an MHT Float Pool for experienced MHTs looking to work 12 monthly shifts.
The shifts will be chosen, and unit assignments will be based on our needs.
This is a 15-week assignment.
We have temporary float positions available for the day (7a- 7p) and night (7p-7:30a) shifts.
Shifts are 12 hours, shifts per month.
The 12 shifts will be on a set schedule of our choosing.
Duties and responsibilities:Take and record vital signs correctly.Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the charge nurse.Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions, and the patient's response to the intervention.Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as neededAssist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.Act as the patient's advocate and ensure that the patient's rights are upheld.Note: The essential job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed above.Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred;Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.Experience: Two years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness, preferred.Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training prior to assisting with restraining procedures.
