Visit www.fortmadison.com to learn more.DescriptionUnder close supervision, assists in providing technical support and advice in Metallurgical testing and analysis at assigned site.Assists in Metallurgical studies and conducting analysesPrepares standard reports on Metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issuesAssists in reviewing new or enhanced Metallurgical testing equipment or protocolsAssists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentDevelops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignmentPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related Engineering disciplineKnowledge of the basic principles and methods used in Metallurgical and processing analysesAble to conduct research and analyze information or considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusionsAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsSkilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingPreferredFamiliar with unit operationsFamiliar with Data Historian SystemsExperience with Mass BalancesCriteria/ConditionsAbility to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in EnglishAbility to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standardsMust be able to work in a potentially stressful environmentWork is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the work dayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFreeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State LawsWhat We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$72,000-$98,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
