Job Summary/Description:
FOX 12 Oregon is looking for a meteorologist to join our award-winning First Alert Weather Team. This meteorologist will work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news managers, and producers to provide comprehensive weather coverage for our newscasts, streaming updates, digital and social content, and severe weather coverage. The right fit for this position will be a dynamic, engaging team player who understands the importance of weather and is able to clearly communicate on every platform.
ExperienceDuties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze raw scientific data, models, and other available and relevant information to create an accurate weather forecast for our viewing areaCreate a compelling, conversational presentation of weather forecast for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media audiencesIdentify and communicate the "weather story of the day" to a cross-platform audienceAccurately forecast and track severe weatherQualifications/RequirementsAt least 2 years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist preferredOperational radar knowledge and excellent command of the TWC MAX system preferredBS/BA in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science/Communications/Journalism or equivalent backgroundSeals of the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society are preferred, but not necessaryFlexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the unpredictable nature of weather eventsProficiency in producing written weather content for our digital platformsIf you feel you're qualified and want to work with a great group of people go to Gray Media Careers, you may type in the job title, station call letters, or click on "apply now", upload your resume, cover letter, and references.
