This position participates on a team that is responsible for all income tax compliance, audit, and planning for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC (BNSF) and subsidiary companies.
This position will be an integral team member focused on preparing tax returns filed with federal and state authorities to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
This position will also be responsible for managing state income tax audits and managing uncertain tax positions (FIN 48).
Key responsibilities may include: Prepare federal income tax returns for BNSF subsidiary companies, and assist in the preparation of the BNSF consolidated federal income tax return;
Assist in the preparation of the income tax provision, estimated tax payments and inter-company tax settlements;
Assist with state income tax compliance and the preparation of state income tax returns;
Assist with research and analyze the tax consequences of new and proposed tax laws and regulations;
Assist with maintaining tax software for purposes of tax returns and ASC 740 reporting;
Support the federal and state income tax audit functions with their information requests as necessary;
Assess uncertain tax positions and maintain FIN 48 calculations.

Basic Qualifications: Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
A Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics.
Threeyears of tax experience working in a corporate or public accounting environment.
Experience in preparing federal and state income tax returns.
Strong knowledge of GAAP financial accounting and income tax laws/regulations.
Experience with preparation of consolidated federal income tax returns and knowledge of tax return software.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Tax.
CPA MBA Knowledge of and experience with SAP.
Experience in other federal and state tax matters is preferred.
Experience with ASC 740 tax provision calculationsand FIN 48.
Experience with Alteryx, PowerBI and/or other automation tools.
