Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Engineer - Marine/Ocean to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Marine (also known as "Ocean"), or Naval Architecture (also known as "Naval Engineering").
Marine or Ocean Engineering degree preferred.
Minimum Secret Clearance
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include one or more of the following in support of NSWC Code 80 mission:
Marine and Mechanical Engineering: The Contractor shall provide support and analysis in the areas of fluid systems design, main propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, control and instrumentation, deck machinery, vibration analysis, and shafting and propulsion train analysis.
Marine and Atmospheric Environment: The Contractor shall utilize physical oceanography and wave generation data and information to create, modify, and simulate marine and atmospheric conditions for virtual or scale model testing.
Physical Oceanography and Wave Generation: The Contractor shall perform studies to develop theory, apply science to, and conduct experiments to enhance understanding of the marine environment regarding ocean and coastal seaways used in model-scale and full-scale platform performance assessment.
