Job Description Must have drivers license and experience operating heavy duty forklifts (Taylor lift).
The duties of a Mill/Yard Operator employee include transporting mill product via tractor/trailer throughout the mill and mill yard areas.
Must be able to inspect and operate equipment and deliver each load promptly and securely.
Qualifications Must have drivers license and experience operating heavy duty forklifts (Taylor lift).Operate and maintain yard vehicles and equipment.Comply with all SJIs (Safe Job Instructions), successfully complete all training requirements.
Comply with federal, state and local regulations as they apply to our yard operation.Follow quality standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.Receive inbound loadsExamine trailer/container for any defects.Completing all required inbound paperwork.Report any discrepancies before releasing driver.Supervise unloading personnel.Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to the schedule supplied by management.
This includes, but not limited to, the following.Verifying product integrity and counts.Preparing shipment according to shippers' guidelines.Reporting any discrepancies.Confirming trailer/container integrity before loading.Properly secure trailer/container before loading.Perform inventory controls and maintain a high standard of quality throughout the yard.Keep a clean and safe work environment.Report any issues, incidents, or hazards to the supervisor on dutyUtilize space to meet optimal efficiency.Communicate and cooperate with supervision and coworkers.Assist in mill and yard work as needed.Experience preferred but can train.Mill swing schedule
Physical requirements:
Must be able to walk around the truck and inspect fluids and overall condition.Must be able to climb up and down 5 steps for ingress and egress of the truck.
Up to 12 times per 12-hour shift.Must be able to exit the driver seat and make 3 to 4 steps to hook and unhook airlines for the trailer.
Up to 75 times per 12-hour shift.Must be able to dismount truck and position wood dunnage on trailer when needed.
Weight up to 50 lbs.
on an as needed basis.Must be able to steer and stop the truck and trailer weighing up to 90,000 lbs.
