Job Description
The Millwright is responsible for installing, assembling, and, when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
The Millwright will transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location according to
floor plans, or as directed using fork lifts, hoists, winches, cranes and other equipment.
Assemble machines or equipment from their component parts.
The Millwright must understand how a machine functions to assemble and disassemble it properly.
This may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems.
The Millwright will use complex instruction books that detail the assembly of the machinery and use tools such as levels, welding machines, and hydraulic torque wrenches.
The Millwright will also use micrometers and other precision measuring devices to achieve the extreme tolerances required.
On large projects, the use of cranes is common.
Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a millwright.
Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
Requirements Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)Minimum of 4 years of combined experience and training similar to that required in a bona fide apprenticeship program as a Millwright; or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Millwright; or eight (8) years of documented Millwright experience; or five (5) years of documented Millwright experience and three (3) years in a related tradeAbility, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as requiredExperience as a millwright in a manufacturing environmentAbility to work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings or other specifications to determine work proceduresAbility and knowledge to dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand toolsAbility and knowledge in welding including arc, acetylene and hydrogenAbility to properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks Ability and knowledge to properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand toolsAbility to clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machineryPerform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task Knowledge of Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications: Ability to provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipmentAbility to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipmentAbility to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (i.e., pipefitter, machine repair)Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and companyStrong computer skillsExperience with computerized maintenance management systemsKnowledge of G-SuiteRelocation is not provided for this position
