Mining Geologist – Senior Level (Hybrid)Job Description: Summary: The person in this position will provide mining geology and related technical expertise to Barr's multidisciplinary project teams. Work may include developing drilling exploration programs, providing field exploration and mapping support, developing geologic models, resource and reserve estimation, and report writing for mine technical reports (such as pre-feasibility and feasibility). This person will provide technical expertise as well as manage projects involving both metal and non-metal mining.
Administrative responsibilities such as business development, project management, project planning and scheduling, and workload estimating are also a part of this strategic role. This person will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers, helping them develop their technical and project management skills by reviewing technical reports, providing guidance on analyses, and overseeing their financial and client management on projects. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mining, geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering; geology; or a related discipline10 years of related experienceA strong background in resource estimationFamiliarity with mine modeling software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Leapfrog, Surpac, Carlson, Minesight, or similarDemonstrated leadership skillsDemonstrated project organization and management skillsStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsA flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications: 15 years of related experience7 years of resource estimation experienceGeostatistics experienceExperience performing and managing mineral exploration programsMine operations and/or development and planning experienceNational Instrument 43-101 or SK-1300 Qualified PersonEstablished network with area clients and the ability to develop or foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client serviceA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position, referring to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; or Denver, Colorado, office.
Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000–$130,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus. NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of mining sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities.
