Job Overview We are seeking a Mission Operations Engineer to support the hands-on deployment of our autonomous service vessels. This role will require frequent testing on the water, troubleshooting, and optimizing our autonomous systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background with exposure to testing in maritime environments.
\n ResponsibilitiesDevelop, test, and maintain software for autonomous surface vessels using C++ and Rust in a Linux environmentDeploy and monitor ASV systems in real-world scenarios on water, ensuring optimal performance and reliabilityDiagnose and resolve software and hardware issues in the field, implementing solutions to enhance system robustnessCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, data scientists, and maritime experts, to integrate and refine ASV capabilitiesConduct rigorous testing and validation of software updates and new features in both simulated and real-world conditionsDocument technical processes, findings, and best practices to contribute to the knowledge base of the teamRemain current with advancements in autonomous systems, software development, and maritime technologies to continuously improve solutions QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldExperience in software development, with a focus on C++ and Rust in a Linux environmentExperience working with embedded systems and real-time computingStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in challenging field conditionsFamiliarity with maritime operations and autonomous systems is a plusWillingness to travel and work on-site at various testing locations, including extended periods on waterExperience with robotics, AI, or machine learning applications is a plusKnowledge of networking protocols and communication systems used in autonomous vesselsUnderstanding of DoD requirements and standards for autonomous systemsExperience with sensor integration and data processing in maritime environments is a plusThis role may require flexibility to work during weekends or outside standard business hours to meet project deadlines, respond to urgent needs, or support essential business operations.
