Job Description:Up to a $10,000 sign on bonus depending on level of experience with up to a 1 year commitment. Performs testinga. Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Complieswith requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.b. Process biological specimens for analysis. Evaluate and solves problems related tospecimen collection and processing.c. Performs routine and complex analytical procedures, recognizes deviations, andprovides interpretation.d. Operates instruments and performs procedures within the scope of training.2. Maintenancea. Performs scheduled maintenance procedures.b. Recognizes equipment malfunctions and acts according to established protocols.3. Quality Controla. Performs, records, and maintains accurate quality control records. Recognizes out ofcontrol results and takes appropriate actions.4. Knowledge Resourcea. Answers inquiries regarding results and factors affecting results. Acts as a liaison andfosters effective communication between laboratory and health care team, maintainingpatient confidentiality.5. Computer Systema. Performs routine inquiry and data input on the laboratory computer systems.b. Ensures accuracy of information in the computer systems and is responsible forcorrective actions.c. Utilizes computer software to enhance specialty area.6. Training/Competency Assessmenta. Instructs new associates and students as required.b. With respect to experience and education, assesses competencies of other testperformers.7. Continuing Educationa. Must complete required number of CE unitsb. Must complete mandatory in-servicesc. Maintains and upgrades personal professional development.8. Team Leadera. Provides guidance to co-workers in the absence of an on-site Supervisor regardingstaffing and technical issues that arise.9. Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Education: Doctoral, Master's or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinicallaboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or transcripts showing 60semester hours from an accredited institution indicating 24 semester hours of medical technologycourses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours in chemistry, 6semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical technology inany combination OR meet an alternate qualification route for Testing Personnel for HighComplexity Testing as detailed in §493.1489Years of Experience: Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accreditedby the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS OR meet an alternateexperience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in §493.1489.Certification: American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire withcertification achieved within one year of hire.WORKING CONDITIONSPersonal Protective Equipment: Lab Coat, Gloves, Protective Eyewear, as required.Physical Demands: Must be able to move continuously about hospital and between workstations;and prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to tolerate exposure to disease bearing specimens,odorous chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, low-level radiation, electrical hazards, and flammableliquids. Must be able to differentiate colors. Must be able to move, lift or carry materials weighingup to 50 lbs., 5% of the time. May have to stand continuously for the entire shift.
