Responsibilities: Assist Physician/Mohs Micrographic Surgeon during Mohs proceduresPrepare surgical/consent documents prior to surgeryPrepare sterile surgical traysPrepare patient for surgery by cleaning surgical site per protocolProcess tissue as directed by Mohs surgeonEnsure documentation is completed for specimen identification, submission and trackingPrepare quality slides for microscopic diagnosis on surgical specimensAssist with maintaining Mohs laboratoryPrepare and maintain stock of reagents, standards and control materials for performance testing at assigned workstations and notify supervisor of shortages or problemsEnsure equipment is available and functioning appropriatelyAssist with maintaining laboratory standards for inspection, per CLIA regulations by maintaining all protocols and logs as outlined in the Mohs log booksMaintain pathology, referral, melanoma, sterilization logs real time to ensure they are accurate and up to dateEnsure yearly maintenance of all equipment is completed and documentedLog any problems or equipment failures as per Mohs lab manual protocolSterilize all instrumentsPrepare patient tissue by grossing and orienting tissue accordingly for sectioning on CryostatUse Cytostat to cut frozen tissue sectionsStain and arrange specimen slides for Mohs surgeonAssure efficient patient flow through the sitePrepare and stock general exam roomsEscort patient to exam rooms, obtains accurate vital signsScribe patient notes for physiciansReview pre/ post visit instruction with patientEnsure photographs are uploaded to patients' chartAssist with callbacks and returning pharmacy refillsPerform patient callbacks as instructed by the ProviderSchedule patient for surgery, consultations, follow-up/wound check, suture removalQualifications: CPR certifiedHigh School Diploma or GED2 years of experience with outpatient surgical proceduresDermatology Mohs or surgical center preferred2 years documenting in an Electronic Medical RecordKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge and ability to identify surgical instruments
