Description

Operates a variety of motorized equipment and performs manual labor in connection with such activities.
Other related duties as required.

An employee in this class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, on a regular basis, of automotive equipment or trucks and on occasion, heavy motorized equipment, and for servicing equipment and making minor mechanical repairs.
Assignments are outlined in detail by a supervisor; standard procedures are followed, and work is inspected periodically for safety.

Essential Job Functions Performs pre-trip inspection of equipment; various other checks will be needed depending on the equipment to be used. Operates roller and asphalt truck when performing road repair. Assists Heavy Equipment Operator on specified tasks. Operates a dump truck in connection with the transportation of sand, stone, gravel and other materials as needed. Operates a light truck carrying tools, equipment and supplies to and from repair jobs. Assists in loading and unloading materials and equipment transported. Operates a tractor with mower and broom attachment. When not engaged as a driver, performs the tasks of a laborer or semi-skilled laborer as assigned, which may include the use of hand or power tools.
Equipment Used/Job Location: Works outdoors in varying weather conditions; Uses bob cat/skid loader, dump truck, street sweeper, front end loader, asphalt roller, jet truck, bucket truck, bush hog mower, street striping machine, trenchers, air compressor, tapping machine, pumps - sewer rodder generators; street broom; water truck; various hand and power tools; as well as equipment or tools developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED;
Plus some experience in the operation of motor equipment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class "B" or higher.

Skills Good knowledge of traffic and safety rules and regulations.Skill in the operation of tractors, trucks and other automotive equipment under all types of weather conditions.Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.Dependability.
