GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director/Manager of Radiology and according to established policies and procedures, performs all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures within knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high-quality examinations.
PRIMARY JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an Allied Health Education and an AMA approved program in Radiology.
Current ARRT certification or advanced MRI certification (advanced certification required within three months of hire) One year full-time general radiology and "1" year MRI experience, or related work scope CPR certification - REQUIRED Excellent interpersonal communication skills Ability to handle information in a sensitive and tactful manner PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e., pain, claustrophobia, metallic objects, isolation patients, etc.).
Obtains and reviews the requisition for reexamination to obtain information such as procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or any other special requirements.
Thoroughly explains procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation.
Monitors the condition of any patient within the department and assists the radiologist in providing needed medical attention, if applicable.
Complies with hospital operational, safety and emergency policies and procedures.
Maintains the MR scanning equipment in good operating order.
Cleans and disinfects equipment and area after each use.
Maintains work area in an orderly manner.
Checks to ensure emergency equipment is in good working order.
Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
Prepares examination results for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and film processing, adequate clinical history, and previous x-rays for comparison (if available).
Assists radiologist during the administration of contrast media and pro-active medical and surgical aseptic procedures as required.
Recognizes allergic reactions and responds in accordance with company policies and procedures for emergency patient care.
Assists with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
Assures that "red carpet" service is provided to patients, referring physicians and staff.
Conducts examinations about patient's age, condition, or other special requirements.
Complies with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
Schedules, organizes, and monitors patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health, and safety standards.
Schedules, organizes, and completes work in accordance with required workloads.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient records and completes administrative records and reports.
Maintains annual venipuncture training/competency as required per JCAHO and department.
Understands and follows specifications and instructions.
Conforms to the established Standards of Behavior.
Other duties as assigned.
