Lead MRI TechnologistKirkland, WA Position Details Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (variable day shifts) Rotating Weekends & Occasional On-call Duties Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Lead MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI procedures at a technical level for diagnostic purposes and supervises daily activities within the MRI department.
This role combines patient care, imaging expertise, and leadership responsibilities to ensure safe and efficient department operations.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Perform advanced MRI exams, including administering contrast media under a radiologist's supervision.
Analyze patient condition to determine the appropriate examination approach.
Prepare patients by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring proper attire.
Control access to the magnet room, ensuring adherence to MRI safety protocols.
Screen patients for contraindications and notify radiologists when necessary.
Maintain compliance with MRI safety standards to protect patients and staff.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations, ensuring adequate patient-to-staff ratios.
Monitor staffing levels and implement low census policies as needed.
Develop and manage staff schedules, including vacation and on-call assignments.
Maintain departmental policies, procedures, and exam protocols.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC) requirements and participate in quality control programs.
Provide training, orientation, and in-service sessions for new employees.
Manage equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
Track and document staff licensure, certifications, and registration.
Participate in developing new procedures and policies.
Collaborate with radiologists to tailor exams to clinical needs.
Submit and review staff time cards with the manager.
Required Qualifications: Licensure & Certification: Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist license ARRT or ARMRIT Certification (or registry-eligible; must obtain MRI certification within 1 year of hire) Current BLS Certification (Healthcare Provider) by hire date Skills & Experience: Leadership or supervisory experience in healthcare settings Specific training in MRI scanner operation and performance Preferred Skills: Strong interpersonal and patient care skills Knowledge of MRI safety protocols, including contraindication screening Experience with MRI contrast agents and managing allergic reactions Familiarity with troubleshooting MRI image artifacts to ensure diagnostic quality Work Environment & Benefits: Location: Kirkland, WA - a vibrant community with free employee parking Culture: Independent hospital with fast decision-making Collaborative environment where employees are treated like family Recognized for excellence with top 50 hospital status for two years Benefits: PTO, Paid Holidays, 401(k) match
