Position Overview: Riverdale's Department of Theater, Dance, and Film (TDF) seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative teacher of Dance who is excited to teach both Middle School (6 - 8) and Upper School (9 - 12) courses. This position will teach four classes ranging in styles and grades and will work in collaboration with the Director of Dance. The ideal candidate will be a passionate teacher, excited about teaching students at all levels. This person should be a good collaborator and interested in creating meaningful art with students, while also imbedding the Riverdale values of Mind, Character and Community. Our website offers an overview of our Middle School and Upper School TDF curriculum. A minimum of three years of past teaching experience at the Middle and/or Upper School level is required for this position. Teachers with enthusiasm for teaching in an ensemble setting are especially attractive. Candidates should have a strong technical background in both ballet and modern. Additionally, they should have significant experience with Hip-Hop or Street Jazz, in addition to other styles of dance which may include Tap, Salsa, African, Modern etc. Candidates will be expected to teach and lead classes in their specific style, as well as be prepared to contribute choreography for the Spring Dance Concert and other events.
