Full time General Music and Band Instructor OR Part Time general Music Part Time band Instructor Seeking a creative, collaborative music instructor to teach grades K-5 general music and grades 6-8 band full time OR K-5 Part-time general music and a second person for 6-8 Part time band. Create engaging, hands-on, interactive music learning experiences for the younger students, start new 6th graders on band instruments, and build upon an existing "intermediate" band group. The Expedition School is a project-based, STEM focused school that values music and arts education and believes music and the arts are a valuable component to the education of the whole child. Supports provided: lesson plans can be provided and mentoring by an experienced music teacher Minimum Requirements Bachelor's in music education 3 years experience working in music with students of multiple ages Band: Ability to play at least at an intermediate level: flute, trumpet, clarinet, percussion, trombone, saxophone and conducting experience Preferred Qualifications: NC teaching license in music (must acquire within 1 year of employment) Ability to teach both general music and band (Or for part-time, ability in one of the areas) Creative and flexible Classroom management skills Organized and prepared Very positive "can-do" attitude Experience with differentiating instruction for both struggling and advanced learners A vision for building the music program over time Able to start as soon as possible Benefits for Full Time Position: State health insurance Retirement matching Optional insurances such as disability, vision, dental (no benefits for part-time positin) Salary: State teacher salary scale plus 15% supplement The Expedition School complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity).
