Music Therapist

Full time - flexible schedule
As Music Therapist you will be responsible for setting goals on an individual basis and selecting specific activities and exercises to assist in consumer progress. Objectives may include development of communication, cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills. Some techniques utilized to achieve this goal are singing, listening, instrumental music composition, creative movement, guided imagery and other methods as appropriate.
Essential Job Functions
Provides written documentation of services and submits documentation in timely fashion
Maintains prescribed level of productivity
Interacts professionally with consumers, parents, school staff and other providers
Keeps abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations
Familiarize self with Medicaid/insurance regulations
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings as necessary
Maintain working knowledge of functioning/maintenance/safety procedures pertaining to department equipment such as tools, audio visuals and musical instruments
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy OR Completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency Program
Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
6 months of experience working in the area of Music Therapy
Training Requirements During Employment: Must completed all assigned training, including successfully completing the IFSSA/DDARS waiver training module.
Specific Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age per state requirements.
Must have CPR and First Aid certifications
Be free from communicable diseases as evidenced by an annual negative TB test or unremarkable chest x-ray.
Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Must be willing to accept supervision and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
