We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Music Therapist to join our dynamic after-school program team.
As a Music Therapist at The MusicianShip, you will use the healing power of music to facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at enhancing the emotional, cognitive, and social functioning of youth.
You will work closely with students to promote self-expression, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills through music-based activities.
Your Role Will Include: Conducting music therapy sessions for High School students using various techniques and interventions to promote emotional and psychological well-being. Collaborating with the Education and Community Programs Manager to design and implement therapeutic music activities tailored to the needs of participants. Evaluating individual student progress and adapting therapy techniques as necessary. Providing insights and recommendations to parents, educators, and staff regarding the growth and development of participants. Attending staff meetings and training sessions as required to contribute to program improvement. Maintaining accurate and confidential records in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position typically requires availability during after-school hours, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends for special events.
Requirements Qualifications: Master's degree in Music Therapy, Music Education, or related field. Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential is required. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with youth, preferably in a therapeutic or educational setting. Strong musical proficiency in at least one primary instrument, as well as vocals. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Understanding of socio-emotional development in youth and experience implementing therapeutic approaches. Must pass a background check conducted by The Office of Out of School Time Grants and Youth Outcomes (OST). Must maintain confidentiality of all student records. Benefits
The Compensation Range for this position is $60-75 per hour and includes payment for off-site administrative work like lesson planning, professional development, and training.
