We're seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with retail buying and merchandising experience to join our team as Category Manager (Natural Buyer) for the company's grocery stores and affiliated markets.
This position reports to the Director of Grocery & General Merchandise and will have responsibility for assigned grocery/natural department categories. This responsibility includes managing product assortment, procurement, pricing, vendor relations, inventory control and market analysis to achieve company sales and gross profit goals in alignment with the company's vision and direction.
Essential Duties:
Achieving Financial Goals: Execute strategies to achieve sales and gross profit targets for assigned categories.
Product Assortment: Regularly update and maintain all sets to ensure product assortment for assigned categories reflects changing customer preferences and company vision.
Merchandising: Partner with sales, merchandising and store planning leadership to execute sound merchandising plans that align with changing customer needs and company vision.
Pricing: Execute pricing strategies and promotional activities to drive sales and ensure competitiveness in alignment with company priorities.
Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain strong supplier/vendor relationships.
Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure availability and minimize excess inventory.
Market Analysis and Awareness: Monitor and analyze sales data, competition, market trends, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for growth and improvement in assigned categories.
Collaboration: Work closely with other category managers, departments, store management and leadership to develop and execute company programs and initiatives.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Company Culture: Understand and live by company mission, vision, values, guiding principles, and house rules.
Other Duties: Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
College degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Minimum of 3 years hard goods experience, preferably in grocery retail.
Working Environment:
Most work takes place in an office environment, but some required work may take in non-standard workplaces, including stores on Oahu and neighbor islands.
Flexible schedule is required, including the ability to work weekends and holidays to accommodate the needs of the business.
Travel to buying shows and company locations on Oahu and neighbor islands is required.

Physical Demands:
Frequently sits, performs desk-based computer tasks, and stands and/or walks for long periods in stores.
Occasional lifting, and/or carrying, pushing, and/or pulling merchandise that weighs up to 20 pounds.
Communication Skills:
The position requires talking and listening to employees, supervisors, executives, and outside trade persons/vendors; written communication to employees, supervisors, executives, and outside persons/vendors; receiving and responding to written or verbal requests; reading; writing.
