We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We do not duplicate available services; instead, we build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and our community partners.

Overall Purpose of this Role: The Navigation and Resource Specialist works with individuals and families to connect them to community resources, provides advocacy and crisis assistance, represents the agency at community meetings, and networks with other community providers.

Salary: Dependent on experience (DOE).

Key Accountabilities: Assist low-income/no-income individuals and families by providing a range of supportive services designed to promote economic self-sufficiency. Assess individual and family needs while providing information and referrals to appropriate community services. Advocate with service providers or other parties on behalf of participants. Network with other emergency and crisis programs as well as community-based organizations that will benefit participants in need of assistance. Work cooperatively with other agencies to coordinate services. Serve as a resource to Helping Hands about community resources and public benefits programs. Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant public and private authorities and service providers. Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, staff, and the general public. Adhere to COVID-19 precautions per recommendations from the CDC. Work is primarily performed indoors, within an office setting, occasionally accompanied by moderate noise levels and exposure to scents. Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone. Frequently required to move about within the facility for meetings, office equipment, and daily operations. Required Qualifications: Prior experience working with at-risk families and individuals in the community including assessing strengths and needs, providing information and referrals to community resources, and completing and following up to ensure successful outcomes. Knowledge of public benefit programs, emergency or crisis assistance, and community resources in the Lincoln County area. Experience, competence, and sensitivity in working with diverse cultural/economic populations. Ability to manage processes and analyze information. Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail. Problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as mobile apps. Preferred Qualifications: Direct or lived experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations. Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
