Are you interested in joining a team responsible for the creation of switching schedules for providing safe access to the SWIN?
The team/department:
You will be joining Western Power's Planned Switching Access Team with our Network Operations Function. Network Controllers in this role are accountable for a suite of activities: writing, prechecking, and approving planned distribution and transmission switching schedules, managing the network in real-time, executing planned switching schedules, and managing network faults and emergencies. The team works on a 9.5-hour roster, 7 days a week.
The teams are split into 6 shift families (three team members each) and spread across two locations – Perth CBD and Forrestfield.
What you will be doing:
As a Network Controller, you will focus on the following:
Responsible for duties and compliance with processes from NTWK 3 Operate the Network
Monitor and control the real-time activity of the network safely, efficiently, and reliably
Write, check, approve, and execute switching programs/schedules using POAF, XA21, and other relevant systems.
Perform real-time and forecasted studies to determine the compatibility of planned work and the impact of critical contingencies on network security and established plans to deal with possible events.
Maintain databases and registers of equipment and personnel. Control work permits and access to the Network to ensure personnel, plant, and public safety.

The skills and experience you will have:
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
Electrical trade certificate to cert III level or Electrical Diploma, Advanced Electrical Diploma or Degree in related engineering or science discipline
Valid WA Driver's License Class 'C' or 'C-A'
Sound knowledge and experience of applying WPC safety policies, electrical safety instructions, and operating procedures. Preferably relevant technical and operational experience in electricity networks of at least 5+ years.
Knowledge of:
Construction, maintenance, and/or operations of primary and secondary plant.
Field practices and procedures and its relationship to the distribution and transmission system.
Commercial and domestic customer owned electrical equipment (Including PPG's and contestable customers).
Customers' specific requirements with respect to supply reliability and quality.
Power system paralleling techniques.
Protection and control equipment and schemes.
Circuit and load flow analysis including voltage control.
Network Technical Rules and Planning Criteria.
Proficiency in computer systems including schematic and geospatial systems i.e. Document Management, Microsoft Office, and eNAR or similar systems.
