Network Engineer (Contract)

Details of the offer

We believe that the future of transportation is automated. Automated travel will be safer, more comfortable, more efficient and a powerful economic enabler for our communities. However, automating driving is a massively complex engineering challenge, requiring vehicles to navigate social norms, regional traffic patterns, unpredictable weather incidents, and a host of anomalous events. While billions of dollars have already been spent trying to solve this problem, a comprehensive answer remains frustratingly elusive. We believe that the final answer lies with roadway infrastructure.

Join us in building the roads of the future. Cavnue, which in April 2022 announced the closing of its Series A at $130M, is bridging technology and road infrastructure to realize a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future for automated transportation. Cavnue's experienced team sits at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and government—working together to develop and deploy the world's most advanced roads. We are incorporating physical and digital infrastructure that unlock the full spectrum of capabilities of current and future automated vehicle technologies. We believe in a world in which road infrastructure shares in the complexity of autonomy and, instead of being another problem to solve for, becomes a core part of the solution.

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to support the network buildout and operations on upcoming Cavnue ITS (intelligent transportation system) projects. On a fully deployed network, the role will also support continued network operations, resolve outages, performance issues, and perform needed upgrades and repairs.

We are looking for an individual that is passionate about the future of roads, who is willing to think creatively, and is ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work necessary to help build and deploy Cavnue's next set of projects.

Roles Responsibilities:   Standup Cavnue's network at new roadside deployments Support Civil Engineering team in documentation and planning for network related items Execute network device upgrades and replacement including coordinating outages with software and program teams Maintain network documentation at Cavnue deployments Procure network hardware to support deployment upgrades and new constructions Perform network monitoring and troubleshooting on operating deployments and root cause network failures Author scripts to automate network device maintenance and configuration. Track and manage network device license and subscriptions Manage circuits and accounts with ISPs Deployment of remote access A&A that meets security & audit requirements Requirements: Troubleshooting OSI layers 1-4 Command line configuration of switches, routers, and firewalls Firewall rule configuration and log monitoring NAT configuration and troubleshooting Linux network configuration Routing: Static, BGP, OSPF, routing weights and paths VLAN design and configuration Experience with network automation scripting in Python, Bash, or similar. Documentation tools: Lucid, Visio, Excel, or similar Implementation of RADIUS and TACACS Configuration of IPsec VPNs Nice to have:

Experience with GCP and VPC and related networking Ansible or Terraform Web development skills Experience working with State and Federal transportation agencies on ITS focused projects *** We do not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiting agencies or 3rd parties, and we are not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes. We are building an incredible team of employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We believe that great work can occur anywhere and are open to considering candidates who meet our needs who reside outside our geographic footprint. We also value the impact that can result from co-located teams and some roles may require regular presence in one of our offices.
