We have been retained by a Chicago client to identify a Network Engineer . The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below. Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain our network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and network security systems. Collaborate with IT and security teams to assess network requirements and develop network architecture designs that align with business needs and industry best practices. Configure and troubleshoot network equipment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of network services. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary adjustments and enhancements to optimize network efficiency and reliability. Conduct regular network assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate potential security risks and vulnerabilities. Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provide support and guidance to the IT team and end-users on network-related issues, troubleshooting network problems, and resolving technical network-related incidents. Implement and enforce network security measures, including access control policies, network segmentation, and intrusion detection and prevention systems. Qualifications: 3+ years' experience as a Network Engineer In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), VPNs, and firewall configurations. Hands-on experience with network equipment and tools, such as Cisco routers and switches, Juniper devices, Wireshark, and network monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, PRTG). Familiarity with network security principles, including access control, authentication, encryption, and security incident response. Proficient in network troubleshooting methodologies and tools, with a systematic and methodical approach to problem resolution. Proactive mindset, with a continuous learning attitude and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and network security threats.
