Network Engineer
Job Description
The Network Engineer will primarily focus on network security technologies supporting the network DMZ, perimeter security, WiFi , analysis of wireshark files, network security standards across the entire network stack.
The candidate must be a subject matter expert with hands-on experience in network engineering, implementation, and operations in enterprise environment with extreme uptime and stability requirements. This individual will collaborate with a global group of technical engineers across US, EMEA, and APAC to create product and service standards in the network.
Principal Responsibilities
Engineering, operations and implementation role in enterprise networks. Mix of engineering, operations and project implementation across all aspects of the network, including datacenter, desktop connectivity, corporate Wi-fi, remote offices, and WAN/MAN.
Serve as an escalation point for critical issues. Help connect the global team to key network challenges and needs.
Implementation of global standards and participation into the network automation framework for deployment and operations.
L2/L3 operational support experience with a desire to train more junior engineers and contribute to operational process improvement.
Qualifications/SkillsRequired
7+ years of experience in a hands on technical role for networks
Proven ability to work hands on and take on a strong technical ownership capability in a global organization. Strong communication skills across engineering staff of multiple disciplines.
An understanding of the importance of operations with a desire to train and mentor more junior engineers and improve/automate operational processes
Proficient in Wireshark and deep understanding of the IP Protocol
In depth understanding of SS & http protocols
An understanding of layer 4 – 7 network technologies including firewalls, proxy, network encryption, port authentication, wifi, network authentication and controls
Scripting and programming knowledge with a slant towards network automation
Expert knowledge of BGP routingprotocol4.
Skills Desired
Experience with current versions of enterprise networks (leaf/spine), route/switch, Cisco, Arista, Wi-Fi, WAN engineering and enterprise QoS.
Knowledge and experience of BGP routing protocol and it's uses in leaf/spine topology
Exposure to Cloud (AWS) networking is beneficial.
Experience with network performance management & monitoring technologies such as, Kentik, VMX, Viavi & Corvil.
Experience of SDWAN technologies and their application for home user and small office deployments
The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.
