**Description** ** _Summary:_**The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for the comfortand well-being of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) prepares equipment andassists physician during examinations and treatments. The Registered Nurse(RN) administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, andmonitors patient vital signs. The Registered Nurse (RN) observes and maintainsrecords on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.The Registered Nurse (RN) participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, ateam member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care.The Registered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptictechnique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offers leadership anddirection to all support staff within department.The unit is a 22-bed NeuroSurgical ICU, with neuro being the primary focus.We admit a vast array of patients including Strokes with and without TNKadministration, head trauma, craniotomies, aneurysm repairs, ICP monitoring,EVD placementmonitoring, and organ procurement. From a surgical standpoint,we care for all patients out of PACU (GI, ORTHO, SPINAL, etc.) with exceptionto any open hearts. We also admit medical ICU patients and on occasion willtake overflow cardiac patients. The floor often has many bedside procedures;chest tube, bronchoscopy, and EGD, to name a few. We have great teamwork and afamily atmosphere.**_Requirements:_****EducationSkills** * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care **Experience** * One-year experience in nursing preferred.**Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications** * Current Texas State RN License * CPR (American Heart Association) * ACLS required within 6 months of hiretransfer date * Unit Specific Requirements * Ssh IcuMicu (A3), Ssh Coronary Oth (A4), Ssh Cardio Icu (Cvicu), Ssh IcuMicu 3 & Ssh Trauma Icu: NIHSS required within 90 days of hiretransfer date * Ssh IcuMicu (A3), Ssh Cardio Icu (Cvicu) & Ssh IcuMicu 3: EKG within 90 days of hiretransfer date * Ssh Trauma Icu: TNCC required within 18 months of hiretransfer date * Ssh Trauma Icu: ENPC or PALS required within 18 months of hiretransfer date**_Work Type:_**Full Time **EEO is the law - click below for more information:**We endeavor to make this site accessible to any and all users.
