**Description** ** _Summary:_**The Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit is a 40-bed mixed unit on the 5thfloor. This unit cares for the medical monitored patients as well as traumaticinjuries transferred from the ICU and Emergency Department. It alsospecializes in post-operative care of patients with acute and chronicgastrointestinal and urologic procedures. The unit is known for being TheCenter of Excellence for the care of bariatric surgery patients. For the40-bed unit, there is usually 3-4 PCTs scheduled each shift for nursingsupport. There is a Mobility Technician from the Physical Therapy Departmentthat is assigned to the Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit to assist patientswith becoming mobilized. The unit also has a certified wound care nurse whomakes rounds on every patient weekly to ensure wound care is covered. The Licensed Vocational Nurse assists the Registered Nurse in the delivery ofpatient care. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the LVN isresponsible for administering direct patient care, treatments as ordered bythe physician and administering medications as outlined by hospital policy andprocedure._**Requirements:**_**A. EducationSkills**Graduate of a State Board Vocational School of Nursing or equivalent**B. Experience**Six (6) months acute hospital experience preferred.**C.
