Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Human Resources Manager on behalf of our client, an established nonprofit organization that is on a mission to maintain and uplift communities in Oakland, CA to help them thrive!
This is a wonderful, full-time, Oakland-based remote, direct-hire opportunity with a dedicated, mission-driven, and experienced team addressing gentrification!
The Nonprofit Human Resources Manager will oversee team member relations, talent management, and administrative support while showing deep expertise in full-cycle high-volume recruiting initiatives.
They also develop various HR strategies, ensure compliance with labor laws, and collaborate across teams within the organization.

Locally remote to Oakland, CA with the ability to go into the office 3-4 times a month!
Full-time work hours from 9:00 - 5:30 and a M-F schedule!

Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
Lead the recruitment process for all positions, including job descriptions, salary comps, candidate screening, and interview scheduling.
Lead high-volume recruiting efforts for temporary staff.
Design and manage a comprehensive onboarding program to ensure new hires are successfully integrated into the organization.
Establish and maintain a performance management system to provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for employees.
Lead employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Manage the performance review cycles, sending out communication and hosting performance management overview sessions.
Administer all employee compensation and benefits programs, including salary, wage administration, health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
Lead the process of transitioning team members into new roles within the organization.
Lead the offboarding process, including exit interviews, final pay processing, and COBRA administration.
Respond to unemployment claims, workers' compensation claims, and other claims.
Administer HR systems management.
Liaise with team members to clarify roles, responsibilities, and areas.
Assist in planning, implementing, and coordinating team projects and initiatives.
Coordinate and manage project and initiative tasks and deliverables.
Analyze, present, and report on key performance indicators and progress.
Coordinate routine and non-routine tasks, including scheduling meetings, account and vendor management, and administrative support.
Requirements: Demonstrated work experience in Nonprofit Human Resources Management specific to all employee lifecycle areas such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, and offboarding.
A passion to be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting the communities of Oakland, CA.
Proficiency in HRIS such as Paycom, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and other operational software.
Fluency in Federal as well as California labor laws and regulations.
Successful project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desire to maintain positive relations with employees at all levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proven track record of building and maintaining positive relationships with employees at all levels.
A high degree of integrity, responsibility, and accountability.
Face obstacles with determination and energy; decisive with a collaborative and data-driven orientation.
Ability to maintain a calm, unbiased, even demeanor and to have difficult conversations.
Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
