A Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is responsible for the leadership and administration of CTE Programs. They must be energetic and creative with a vision for the future.
This is a .50 FTE position which currently includes teaching an Office Management Class. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. Oversee CTE programs in accordance with laws, regulations, and district policies.Develop and implement standards, policies and the progress of service.Plan, develop, direct, monitor, and maintain the CTE budget.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.Purchase instructional supplies, materials, and equipment.Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate.Provide leadership and technical expertise in the development and implementation of comprehensive plan for use of technology related to CTE courses.Make decisions related to CTE department curriculum, instructional materials, software, and equipment.Support schools and school staff with CTE program implementation.Plan, develop, evaluate, and coordinate CTE staff development training options and improvement plans by using the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes and input from principals, teachers, and others to ensure best practices focusing on district and state goals.Collaborate with other departments or agencies, including the State Department of Education.Prepare performance reports for CTE.Administer CTE district budget, Perkins' grant, and other grants to ensure that programs are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently.Lead the CTE Advisory Group.Work and participate with community groups, business leaders, and industry to create, maintain, and sustain partnerships to support CTE programs and to meet the needs of community stakeholders.Foster goodwill through coordination of partnerships and recognition with the business, industry, and community partners and serve as a liaison for the district.Performs related duties as assigned.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Current Washington State Teacher's certificate, with appropriate Vcode endorsements.Current Washington CTE Director certification or the ability to obtain one.At least 5 years of successful vocational teaching experience.Three years supervisory experience, preferred.Experience and knowledge working with CTE budgets and iGrants.REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Driver's license.CPR/First Aid.CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Criminal background clearance.KNOWLEDGE OF: Career and technology education curriculum and instruction.Career and technical education instructional programs and practices.Policies and procedures, and data.ABILITY TO: Manage budget and personnel.Determine needs for new CTE program offerings and taking appropriate steps to meet these program needs.Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Maintain effective working relationships with other people.Organize and set priorities.Work independently with minimal supervision.Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate the wide range of skills which exist in a classroom.Apply current trends and practices in education.Teach in a multi-cultural and mainstream setting.Use technology to enhance instruction.Be fair and consistent with all students.Provide guidance and assistance to students.Meet responsibilities in a punctual and reliable manner.Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures.BENEFIT SUMMARY: Employees may be benefit-eligible based upon hours worked/FTE for the following benefits:
