Position: Northwest Operations Manager Company Name: AJR Trucking FLSA Status for Employee: Exempt Position Type: Full-Time Location: Creswell, OR (On-Site) Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000 Position Summary: This role requires extensive experience in overseeing operations within an asset-based trucking company. The primary responsibility of the Northwest Operations Manager is to gain an in-depth understanding of the needs and address all operational matters relating to the fleet, terminals, their managers, and drivers. Promote and maintain good standing relationships with the company's customers. Monitor key performance indicators regarding contractual obligations, service fulfillment, on-time service, equipment performance, driver performance, schedule optimization, and vendor relations. The Northwest Operations Manager supervises terminal managers, driver managers, lead drivers, and drivers. Manage and develop relationships with the drivers, and maintain fleet to increase overall driver productivity and retention. This position works closely with drivers, customers, and other company departments to ensure company objectives are met. This is a salaried exempt position. All duties and tasks are understood to be a part of the described position but are not limited to business travel and drive time.  Requirements and Responsibilities: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company in the Northwestern U.S., including driving to cover routes or transport equipment. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions in the areas of personal property, unit movement, materiel movement, and transportation operations. Must have the ability to provide information and reports, resolve issues, and recommend actions to improve the delivery of services to customers.  Must have skills in verbal and written communication to conduct meetings, evaluate plans, and prepare reports, plans, and working instructions. Train terminal managers and review results regularly Assist in the administration and coordination of the fleet. Administers Postal Operation Safety protocol with drivers. Oversee and adjust the scheduling of routes and trips. Process repair orders from start to finish in accordance with the company standard to ensure all information is tracked. Works with outside vendors to track and update the progress of repairs and to manage the invoice process. Maintain accurate records of vehicles. Assists techs in managing parts inventory, parts ordering, and scheduling service repairs. Ensures compliance with government rules and regulations and files paperwork in support of DOT compliance as needed. Schedule repairs or preventative maintenance and coordinate BIT inspections. Ensure that the necessary number of fleet vehicles is always available. Communicate vehicle needs and condition reports with the fleet manager. Monitor and manage the driver's time efficiently, ensuring that customer expectations are met for pickup and delivery, DOT Hours of Service regulations are followed, and any delays are communicated to the dispatch/customer. Ensure equipment meets and or exceeds companies and DOT safety standards, for use always. Moving equipment as needed for maintenance and advising maintenance of location and maintenance needs.  Always ensure safety compliance, providing driver training when needed, and participating in safety campaigns. Tracking and recording drivers' performance from dispatch to delivery to ensure on-time service. Working closely with safety, maintenance, and operations to ensure drivers comply with the policies and procedures of AJR Trucking. Promptly answering phone calls, e-mails, voicemails, and other questions from co-workers and drivers. Maintaining positive customer, driver, and carrier relations. Develop relationships with drivers to ensure better performance and encourage driver retention. Develop, write, and improve driver schedules, and or routes to optimize performance and efficiency. Provide guidance, coach, mentor, and train drivers to ensure the success of the driver and AJR Trucking. Audit driver timecards ensuring that they are filled out correctly, submitted on time, and accurately represent work performed. Responsible for performing drive tests on potential driver candidates. Perform additional duties as required. Class B license to move tractors to service location. Competencies: Proficient problem solver, independent and adaptive to a fast-paced business environment Ability to use computer and software applications (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) Experience with TMS. Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed. Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks. Ability to listen and speak professionally. The ability to speak Spanish is an advantage. Previous transportation management experience preferred.  Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations. Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.  Possesses customer service-related experience.  Top-notch organizational skills. Ability to work in potentially stressful situations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must possess strong problem-solving skills. Pay:  The pay is competitive, depending on experience ($90,000 - $95,000), and will be discussed during an in-person interview. Benefits: Employer Paid Medical. Employer Paid Dental.
