Description:
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine and/or Nuclear Cardiology procedures according to all Protocols, Policies and Procedures and adhering to A.L.A.R.A. programs. Performs all quality control procedures in accordance with manufacturer, state and federal guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required nuclear medicine exams on patients of all age groups, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
2. Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
3. Determine the quality of radiopharmaceutical received from suppliers.
4. Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.
5. Protects self, patient and other personnel during all nuclear medicine exams.
6. Maintains all required records, reports, licenses and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies
Qualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine program accredited by either the Joint Review Committee on Education Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

N/A
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Registered nuclear technologist with either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (Nuclear) ARRT (N) or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB-CNMT).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS Certified. Possesses a thorough knowledge of radiation safety guidelines and radiopharmaceuticals as needed to perform and process Nuclear Medicine examinations.
