We are currently hiring for the Non-licensed Operator Initial Training class. The expectation is for candidates to start May 2025 to complete pre-work prior to the start of the training class in June 2025. The Nuclear Plant Equipment Operator position is an entry-level position into the Control Room. Individuals in this title are expected to enter the Control Operator licensing program when selected. To progress to the next level in Operations, the individual must demonstrate the ability to obtain a Reactor Operators license and/or Senior Reactor Operator license.
Responsibilities include:
Performing work associated with the operation of various plant equipment.Starting up, operating, inspecting, and shutting down plant systems and associated components.Performing or assisting with scheduled operational tests on protective devices and safety systems.Reading meters, gauges, thermometers, and instruments on auxiliary equipment, making adjustments to obtain efficient operations, and recording readings as required.Inspecting outdoor transformer equipment and reporting abnormal conditions.Participating in self-assessments and prompt resolution of identified department issues.Training for and performing duties as a site fire brigade responder as needed.Receiving, informing, and providing information timely related to safe work practices, work schedules or delays, and non-compliance to procedures.The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below. To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
1 year relevant power plant experience preferably in a nuclear power plant (e.g., Nuclear operations or navy nuclear experience) OR equivalent education in engineering or nuclear technology.Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the year of experience.
Candidates who are graduates or upcoming Spring 2025 graduates with the following education are highly encouraged to apply: Maritime UniversitiesAssociate Degree in Nuclear Engineering TechnologyAdditional qualifications include:
Ability to accurately read, interpret, and comply with company/department procedures.Thorough knowledge of operation of pumps, valves, motors, and other power plant equipment.Basic knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and health physics procedures.Ability to diagnose problems in power plant equipment and write Maintenance Requests for repairs.Participation in the Fire Brigade, including fulfilling the role of Fire Brigade leader, and passing a physical fitness test.Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.Education RequirementsRequired degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):
